Artistic Statement

Art, in any form, is giving of one's heart and mind through the use of organic energy and skillful execution through one's chosen instrument. Artists who move me share their souls, their dreams, their joy and their pain. I'm personally drawn to artists who challenge my humanity and cause me to feel deeply. I have learned more about myself from the artists I admire than from any other source, and this is the gift I intend to give back.

"The essence of human experience is to participate in the full range of emotional expression." This quotation comes from a book called "Path of Empowerment" by Barbara Marciniak (page 129). Reading this sentence was my "aha!" moment because it helped me begin to clarify my artistic goals. A peer in my acting class once told me, "I'm learning about myself from watching you," again clarifying my intentions. My goal is to demonstrate raw and honest human experience in my work, and to express that it's right and wonderful to be just who you are, embracing each idiosyncracy, in every moment.
